Why linen sweater
We have been manufacturing knitwear from merino wool for many years and now linen knitwear has been the object of our development. Knitting from linen is not very simple, but we have developed methods that will make it more successful. The first experiences of linen knit we had already in the 90's. We manufactured several collections for Maridress 100% linen. The products were already attracted attention and received good feedback on their quality. Now we've been trying to make a linen sweater light.
Why linen sweater is good for nature
We found a linen yarn manufacturer in Italy with green flax yarns. Growing linen is more naturally friendly than growing cotton. It requires much less water and does not require so many pesticides. Our manufacturer has done so well that they have several related certificates. They also have several manufacturing-related patents that support high quality and ecological.
We've got some yarn in stock. We will soon need more of it and we look forward to the progress of the situation caused by koronavirus. Now the factories are closed in Italy and we are waiting for the next wire delivery. We could order more yarns before we closed the factories, but we didn't have time to deliver them.
Linen sweaters in our collection
We started developing linen knitwear for our own collections last year. This spring, giraffe, lehti and flax models were born. There's something special about developing them.
The giraffe was allowed to hand over his beautiful pattern to the Giraffe model. It's done with a rather complicated knitting technique. This complexity is illustrated by the fact that a single line of programming language for programming the knitting machine proved too short to write a command. One compromise had to be reached to resolve this. Fortunately, it didn't affect the outcome. This same problem was already raised in the 1990s when we made collections for Marimeko and Annikki Karvinen, for example. The symbols needed to program the knitting machine ran out and I had to make special solutions to solve the problem. I asked the manufacturer of Stoll knitting machines at a fair. They didn't really understand why the signs weren't enough. This bond is actually the result of many years of development. I am satisfied with the end result because the knitting is light and yet has a look.
The magazine model was born on the basis of my wife's idea of Riita. It has implemented a knitting technique developed over the years, where we have managed to combine the lightness of the knitting and the neat look of the pattern pattern. The good denominations of linen are well reflected in this bond.
In Flax-mali, we aim to highlight the properties of linen. The product is made of stocking knit and the Flex blouse can be used together with a jacket made of Giraffe pattern. The feel of linen against the skin is worth a try. Its breathability is in a class of its own.
We're wet finishing all linen. The linen sweater is best suited to its rights when properly finished to prevent shrinkage after washing.
